Time: SGT 8:30am - 12:30pm and AEDT 11:30am - 3:30pm
This 4 hour online workshop is designed for Physiotherapists and Health Professionals, and aims to explore the role of strength training within an older adult population (50+) with a focus on musculoskeletal health, sarcopenia and bone health. It combines theoretical foundations with practical applications. Participants will engage in informative lectures covering the science behind strength training older adults including the physiological benefits and safety considerations, its role in musculoskeletal health, and the importance of program design. Practical sessions will provide hands-on experience in designing and implementing tailored strength training exercises suitable for this population to improve muscle strength and mass, improve balance and reduces the risk of falls, increase bone density, boost mobility, functional independence and quality of life.
Join online and participate in the practical component. Suggested equipment (but not required): floor space, exercise mats, resistance band, dumbbells, barbell options
